The Spyderco Dragonfly 2 is now being offered with an H-1 blade option, called the Dragonfly2 Salt. What makes the Dragonfly a bestseller is its mid-sized blade, ergonomic handle with a front-finger choil and a spine cusp. Its blade-to-handle geometry and leveraging points fill a gripping hand, making it feel like you’re cutting with a much larger knife. Its FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) handle is molded with a grip pattern called Bi-Directional Texturing’ that ergonomically fills the hand with a series of angles and leveraging spots and is available in Marine Yellow.
The addition of textured jimping on the choil, spine and screw-together handle construction and a left/right tip-up wire clip make pocket carry effortless and convenient. Precise positioning of the enlarged Spyderco Round Opening Hole in relation to the pivot makes opening/closing smooth. Hollow-ground for high cutting performance, the blade comes in plain or serrated edges.

This was their initial foray into making folding knives and it's fair to say – they nailed it. Spyderco knives offer users a premium cutting tool through their use of high-end steel that offers a sharp edge that will be retained for years to come. But these are just the standard aspects that make any good knife. Going back to that initial breakaway moment from 1981, Spyderco's main point of difference at that time, and still today, was down to a few key ergonomic innovations that made their knives much more user-friendly for their customers. The first of these innovations is the use of the Spyderco Round Hole. This simple but immensely effective ergonomic innovation changed the game for folding knives. It came at a time when single-handed folding knives didn't open anywhere near as easily as they did once the Round Hole was introduced. It allowed the user to pinch the knife blade between the thumb and forefinger, close to the spine, and lever the blade out. The next innovation was another simple but highly effective addition to what was already a solid blade. This was the pocket clip. Though simple as an idea, this was a huge step forward for everyday carriers and provided the user with stability and security in their pocket, while ensuring other items held in the pocket could still be easily accessed.ÂHow To Clean A Spyderco Knife
After using your Spyderco knife for a cutting task, you may find that it is in need of a clean. The extent to which the knife needs cleaning and what materials you use will depend mainly on what the knife was cutting. For a general mess that hasn't left grease, a simple wipe-down with a rag or towel will suffice. If the knife has been used for cutting up meat or another task leaving behind greasy material, a combination of dish soap and warm water is your best bet. If after using the knife for a period of time and you can see that it is starting to accumulate dust, grim, pocket lint and other residues, you may choose to pull the knife apart and do a thorough clean. Do this by:- Unscrewing the knife and placing any screws and parts on a tray to keep them together.
- Place the knife parts in a bucket with warm soapy water.
- Use a toothbrush or other bristled utensil to scrub everything clean.
- Rinse everything and allow to dry prior to reassembly.
- Put the knife back together, ensuring all screws are done up tight.
